Lesley Samms MSc – Founder and Managing Director - Pure Arts Group & Pure Arts Foundation
Lesley has a core background in business, having spent the early part of her career working in Banking in the City of London. A career in marketing and sales followed this, working mainly in the Leisure marketplace for Coca-Cola and Schweppes.
For the past 20 years she has worked primarily in the Contemporary Fine Art marketplace, as a Fine Art Photographer, as a Gallery owner and more recently as an art consultant, professional development practitioner, writer and curator.

Edith Pargh Barton – Creative Consultant
Edith is a painter as well as a sculptor in textiles. Her American heritage provides the backdrop which underpins her art practice. Edith has exhibited widely in the UK, Europe and the US and is currently part of the management committee of the Sussex Guild.
Louisa Crispin - Creative Consultant
Artist and partner of Artichoke Gallery, Ticehurst, Louisa actively supports Art Events near her home on the Kent/Sussex border. Her intricate drawings are regularly shown in London and the South East through membership of the Free Painters and Sculptors, United Society of Artists and the Society for Graphic Fine Art and by selection for Society Open Exhibitions. She is an artist network member of the Royal West of England Academy.
Mary Beaney – PR & Marketing
Mary's working background has always been in the administrative sector. It wasn’t until 1987 that Mary came involved in the world of fine art.
Since 1987 Mary has achieved a lot, including a Fine Art Diploma as a mature student and Best Student Award. She has curated many exhibitions in Sussex, was a committee member, Chairman and President of the Eastbourne Group. founder and promoter of Art on the River, held Open House for 21 years, as well as being a workshop tutor for the mature student for 17 years as part of "Art in the Community".
Together with her friend Michele Findlay Mary also founded Chalk Gallery in Lewes, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2015 with an exhibition at the Towner Gallery, Eastbourne.
Hildegard Pax - Design & Coordination
Hildegard is chair of the artist collective ArtSpring Gallery in Tonbridge and her unique artworks in glass have been exhibited in the UK, Germany and the USA. Her work is regularly shown at the Affordable Art Fairs in London and has been selected to be part of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition as well as other notable open submission exhibitions.
Vincent Matthews SGFA - Technical & Newsletter
Vincent is a Society Of Graphic Fine Art (SGFA) council member and also currently serves as their curator. The SGFA is the only national society dedicated to drawing and hold regular exhibitions at both the Menier and Bankside Gallery’s in London. Vincent’s background since leaving art college in 1981 is bespoke interior design and architecture, working successfully for Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler Ltd for many years in their design studio, as senior designer and Associate Director on projects around the world. Since completing a Contemporary Fine Art course in 2007 he has divided his time between running his own design practice and focusing on his passion for fine art. His artwork is largely drawing based and he utilizes plein-air sketching to provide much of the reference material for his large ink drawings, etchings, intaglio engravings and painting. Vincent is co-host of the Smallhythe Studios Pure Arts Club and is also part of the contemporary Tenterden Artists group. He has exhibited widely throughout the UK.
Shelley Rose – Technical & Coordination
Shelley began his artistic career as a printmaker for the distinguished artist Michael Rothenstein RA in the early 70’s, and went on to teach at Goldsmith and Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London. His work encompasses the media of silkscreen printing and fine art photography and he seeks to blur the boundaries between both, exploring new techniques and use of raw materials.
His work has been shown in several Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions and is held in public and private collections, as well as in the British Museum Print & Drawing Collection in London. He has won the John Purcell Paper Award for Outstanding Printmaking in 2005 and the Aberystwyth Purchase Prize in 2009.
Simone Riley - PURE Arts Club co-host (Lewes)
Simone is a member and a director of the artist-run Chalk Gallery in Lewes. Originally qualified in Graphic Design, she has since been involved in a variety of artistic disciplines, including decorative painting and gilding in the field of restoration, and running a freelance calligraphy business. More recently Simone has developed her own style and technique as a Digital Photomontage artist, and has exhibited at the RA Summer Exhibition and Bankside Gallery in London, as well as a variety of galleries and venues across East Sussex, West Sussex and Kent.
