Speed, Lifestyle & Technicolour
"Richards' seductive, highly saturated colours and sophisticated pictorial structures demonstrate a true love and empathy for his subject matter - be it cool descriptive interiors, still life or landscape. His distinctive style pushes the limits of lens- based photography without the need for digital manipulation."
Brought up in East Anglia, Richard is heavily influenced by America. He has visited American bases, kept magazine cuttings and followed drag racing. The speed, lifestyle and technicolour is reflected in his imagery. Colour is a major aspect of his work, it drives his equipment and material choices.
Richard has exhibited widely, including in his early career at the Photographers Gallery. Since 2007 the majority of his work has been shown at Art Fairs both in the UK and worldwide, attracting international collectors.
'Thrills, Coney Island' was exhibited as part of the 2018 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
