The judging panel oversees selection for the annual autumn showcase exhibition and their decision is final. All fully paid up members will be considered, based on information provided on the membership application form and images supplied. Artists selected to exhibit at the 2018 autumn showcase exhibition will be notified by 25 July 2018.
For the membership application, artists are required to submit jpeg images of 3 pieces of work completed since 1 Jan 2016. These can be sold works but should be a reflection of the artist's current practice. The work can be a mixture of styles or all within a theme or body of work.
Showcase exhibition selection is based on quality of artwork submitted; artistic sensitivity, technical skill, originality, visual impact and content, therefore, it is vital good quality images are provided to ensure work can be appreciated to its full potential.
We strongly recommend artists have their artwork professionally photographed for the application process.

Showcase exhibition selection results will be posted on our website
and facebook page by 25 July.
On 31 July artists selected to exhibit at the showcase exhibition will be invoiced for the annual exhibition and directory entry fee of £105. This invoice must be paid in full by 7 August and allows for a single page bespoke entry in our annual artists directory and up to 4 works to be submitted for final judging and hanging.
On 21 August artists selected for the showcase exhibition will be requested to submit Directory wording and jpeg images of maximum 4 artworks they wish to exhibit. Deadline for all information and artwork upload is 1 September.
Work submitted for the showcase exhibition must be consistent with the artist's original application and of a similar quality, size and price point. We reserve the right to decline any work which does not comply with this condition. We also reserve the right not to hang all works submitted, which is subject to the curator's discretion.
Wording for the Directory page must be written in the third person and between 50 and 150 words.
Non-exhibiting members will be asked to supply an image, maximum 10 word practice description and contact information: email, website and social media.

Double page in annual printed artist directory: £75 additional fee.

Sales commission: 35% incl. VAT
PURE Arts agrees to try to sell the selected artwork at the agreed retail price, or discount of 10% allowed without consultation with the artist, and the artist agrees to pay 35% commission to PURE Arts for all of their artworks sold from the exhibition.
Student applications are welcome at the reduced application fee of £40.
Students must be in further education on the application 'close' date of 1 July 2018 and this requires authentication by a course tutor. Students should request their course tutor sign and date a copy of the download terms and conditions form and either scan and email email@example.com or post to PURE Arts Group, Stuart House, Old Blackfriars, Marley Lane, Battle TN33 0DQ before applications close on 1 July 2018. Failure to do so will invalidate the application.

The Selection Process
Artists are required to submit jpeg images of 3 pieces of work completed since 1 Jan 2016 as part of the annual membership application process.
These images will be used to select artists to exhibit in the annual showcase exhibition, which takes place in October at the PowderMills Hotel, Battle in conjunction with the Battle International Arts & Music Festival.
Selection is made by the judging panel and is based purely on quality of artwork submitted; artistic sensitivity, technical skill, originality, visual impact and content. It is vital therefore that good quality images are provided to ensure work can be appreciated to its full potential.

The selection process for all other exhibiting opportunities will be notified on a case by case basis.
Presentation and Insurance of Work
PURE Arts Group take every care to ensure artwork placed in their care is handled and stored appropriately and due diligence taken with regard to security in all venues chosen as exhibition venues.
PURE Arts Group strongly recommend all artists insure their own artworks against loss or damage.

Autumn Art Fair selection panel
The selection panel oversee the artist selection process in its entirety, together with the annual awards judging which take place as part of the PURE Autumn Art Fair. Their decision is final.
The selection panel changes annually and past judges have included James Horton President of the RBA, Will Taylor Past President of the SGFA, Romeo Di Girolamo Past President of the RBA, Antony Penrose Director of the Lee Miller Archive and Ryan Stanier, Director of The Other Art Fair.

PURE Arts Group provide support and development opportunities for artists to grow and develop their practice, to broaden their outlook and experience within their chosen field and take the next step in their careers.

Professional Development, Mentoring & Coaching
PURE Arts Group run regular network meetings and professional development taster sessions. These are open to all PURE members and details are communicated regularly by email.

The PURE Autumn Art Fair (annual showcase exhibition) 2018 will open to the public at 11am Saturday 6 October and close at 5pm on Sunday 14 October 2017. There will be an evening Private View on Saturday 6 October.
Autumn Art Fair artwork collection: from 6pm on 14 October and between 10am -12 noon on 15 October
Artwork Submitted for any PURE Arts Group Art Fair, event or exhibition, must be consistent with the artists membership application and of the same quality and price point. Acceptance of artwork for exhibition and sale is at the sole discretion of PURE Arts Group and the Selection Panel.
Artwork delivery and collection dates will be notified in advance and must be strictly adhered to unless agreed otherwise in advance.
Uncollected artwork will attract a handling and storage fee.

Students and early career artists. By early career we mean an artist who has, to date, not had a solo exhibition or any specific gallery representation

What to submit with my application:
Artists are required to submit images of 3 pieces of work completed since 1 Jan 2016. Works submitted can be in a variety of media: paintings, sculptures, ceramics, original prints, drawings, glass, fine art jewellery, textiles & photography. Painted work can be in a variety of media, including oil, tempera, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolour and other dry mediums and can be on any form of support (canvas, paper, wood, plastic etc). Images of installations and mixed media constructions can be submitted as part of the selection application, to demonstrate style and quality across a body of work, but, will only be accepted for event exhibitions if they contain elements for sale and by prior agreement with Pure. All expenses associated with exhibiting Installation artwork must be met by the artist.
Please note: For the purposes of the PURE Arts Group, the definition of original print is as follows: works generated by the artist as an original limited edition artist’s print.
Reproduction giclee prints are not admissible, however, we do accept original digital art.
Is photography and video eligible?
Yes, however it should be noted video and film artists will be required to supply all relevant equipment in order to exhibit their artwork; Projectors, DVD players etc. PURE do not supply these.
How many pieces should I submit as part of my membership application?
Images of three works, completed since 1 January 2016, must be submitted.
Is there a restriction on size of work submitted?
There is no size restriction on work submitted as part of the membership application, however, there is a size restriction on work subsequently submitted for the annual showcase exhibition. The maximum size for the showcase exhibition is 1m x 1m for hung artwork and for sculpture, ceramics etc.; 4 plinths (1 per artwork) or 1 cabinet per artist.
Does my artwork need to be for sale?
Work submitted as part of the membership application does not need to be for sale, however all work submitted/presented for exhibition must contain an element which is for sale, unless otherwise agreed in advance.
PURE Arts Group agrees to try to sell the selected artwork at the agreed price notified to them by the artist, or discount of 10% allowed without consultation with the artist. Any discount above 10% can only be agreed in consultation with the artist.
PURE Arts Group take 35% commission on all sales made directly by them or attributable to sales and marketing activity undertaken by them - This must be included in any price notified to PURE Arts Group. If you are registered for VAT, then the VAT due on the selling price of the work should also be included in the notified price.
We settle all artist accounts on a monthly basis. Sales confirmation invoices will be sent by email and Bank details requested for automated payment.
How much does it cost to apply for annual membership?
£60 per artist (non-refundable)
Full-time students pay a reduced membership fee of £40 per artist.

What are the fixed additional costs if I am selected to exhibit at the annual showcase exhibition?

• £25 per non-exhibiting member
Please Note: invoices will be payable by 7 August. Failure to settle by the due date will be taken as automatic de-selection from the exhibition and the place will be offered to another member.
What is included in the fixed additional cost for showcase exhibition selected artists?
• Each artist selected to exhibit as part of the annual showcase will be invited to present up to 4 works for exhibition.
Please note however, hanging is subject to curation and therefore inclusion of more than 2 works (subject to size) is not guaranteed. We will however ensure all extra works supplied but not hung are made available for viewing by visitors when appropriate or upon request.

What is the cost of the additional optional extras?
• Showcase selected artists will be given the option to upgrade to a double page entry in the PURE annual printed artist directory + £75
• DISC Profile assessment and report - £90 per profile
• Cost for 1 to 1 professional development support (open to all members) £45 per session (min 3 session booking requirement)
• Feature article in Aspect County Magazine or Ingenue Magazine (subject to space availability) created and edited by Lesley Samms - from £250
• Bespoke artists film created and produced by Lesley Samms - from £1,000
If I am selected to exhibit at the showcase exhibition, can I bring extra unframed browser artwork? Artists books? Cards etc.
All selected artists are welcome to bring additional works for the browser and artists books; we will do our best to display these for sale in the context of a fine art fair environment. Standard sales commission of 35% will be payable on these items. We do not display or offer greetings cards for sale.
Can I appeal if I am not selected to exhibit at the Autumn Art Fair?
No, the decision of the selection panel is final.
Do I retain copyright?
Yes, the copyright in all work submitted to and exhibited by PURE Arts Group will remain the property of the artist. It is, however, a condition of membership that PURE Arts Group reserve the right to use all submitted images and/or text in whole or in part, together with film and images taken at our events, exhibitions and residencies, for promotional and publicity purposes. PURE Arts Group shall also have the right of free reproduction of all submitted and exhibited works for all catalogues, posters, postcards, DVDs, exhibition website and other promotional and educational material.Any enquiries regarding copyright will be referred to the artist.
How do you use my personal data?
PURE Arts Group will hold personal data supplied by artists securely, in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 1998 and subsequent amendments to this legislation.
In compliance with GDPR regulations: The PURE Company policy is to respect your personal information and your privacy. We will not share or sell the information we hold about you to any other 3rd party or organisation. Payment of your membership fee will be taken as your unreserved acceptance of the entire contents of this document and consent to our storing and utilising as detailed the information supplied on this form.

Do I need to insure my artwork?
Artists are responsible for insuring their own work. All works accepted for exhibition will be displayed entirely at the artists’ own risk and PURE Arts Group will not accept liability for any loss or damage.
What happens in the event of a dispute?
Artists who submit work to PURE Arts Group shall indemnify and keep indemnified PURE Arts Group against any actions, claims, proceedings, losses, liabilities, charges, costs and expenses which may be incurred arising out of or in connection with any actual or alleged financial or contractual arrangements between such artist and any agent (other than PURE Arts Group) or any other third party.
Who can join Friends of PURE, how much does it cost and what benefits are their in becoming a Friend?
Anyone can become a Friend of PURE. It costs just £40 p.a. and you can join at anytime.
