Painting - Realism
Andrea Shearing
PAINTER
Andrea is inspired by the environment of the South Downs and local coastline where she lives. She explores her inner journey using the emotional symbolism of her subject matter. Her creative process is a see saw between the inner and the outer world in the initial stages. The first stage of creating a painting is to focus on the real location then observing her subject matter in search of information to interpret. As the image evolves the observation of the real world becomes secondary to making the painted image advance on its own journey.
Andrea does not want to create precise images that look machine made. The see-sawing between the real and the imagination is the dynamo that drives the creative energy. The most important ingredient is to keep the visual senses stimulated, to keep contact with the initial idea, to allow an intuitive journey to evolve through the perception and translation of the real world. Andrea is passionate about working from nature. She is a slow meditative painter. This process puts her in touch with the healing spirit she inherited from the medics in her family.
She wants her work to help people find an inner sense of peace and connection with nature's energy. Andreas ambition and hope is that her work can ease the wounds of living, through inducing calm and peaceful reflection. Finding the meaning and the link between the inner and the outer world is key to everything which inspires her. Andrea has designed some pieces for public spaces as thinks this is a very suitable environment for the polyptyches and the 3D free standing pieces. Andrea exhibits in UK, Europe and USA. She won a solo exhibition in London a few years ago on the theme of H2O and have three exhibitions planned this year on the South Downs and our local coast in East Sussex.
