Gavin Roweth
SCULPTURE
Gavins passion for sculpting developed from a series of limestone carving workshops held in Tout Quarry on the Isle of Portland in Dorset. He soon found carving in the round the most intense exercise in concentration, combining complete mental attention with the physical and technical requirements to achieve the finished design.
Gavin also cast resin filled moulds produced from clay pieces. He finds the whole process intriguing, from the design to the construction of the clay model, the requirements of the mould, the casting and then the finished surface of the sculpture.
More recently Gavin has been focusing on stone carving again with a series of pieces called Emerging Forms.
