“I popped into my local supermarket, a large one with banks of flowers on sale. In a forgotten corner there was one last bunch of white roses. All his peers had been sold from under him, he was there all alone and pretty sad with no home to go to. I grabbed him and he was the first thing in my basket, ‘you're coming home with me’ I muttered. And he has done me proud by standing for this portrait in my lovely green jug.”
