Andrea Shearing, Sunset Ice Cave

£650.00

My mission as an artist is to alert people to the serious climate issues that we urgently need to take responsibility for. I want to inspire in people to wonder at the beauty of nature and educate them a about the balance between survival and destruction. A lot of art focuses on portraying the negative effects we are having on our planet. I fear this may have a depressing effect on people. I want to light their fire with an enthusiasm for positive action. I recognize this is a huge challenge for a humble artist! Sunset Ice Cave explores the juxtaposition of contrasts in nature. Sunset Ice

Cave sets out to alert people to the importance of the extreme temperatures that are occurring with climate change. The heat will melt the ice. There is a beautiful relationship between frozen water and the burning sun which must not be destroyed. A few years ago I won a solo exhibition in London on the theme of H2O. This is from the section on Frozen Water. As a compound H2O is crucial to our survival and also one of the most diverse substances there is hence my interest making people value it.

Acrylic on MDF, Artwork size 54cm x 122cm
