Workshop: Essential Tech for Artists

  • Medicine Bakery 53 Wharfside Street Birmingham, England United Kingdom (map)

Technology doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be one of the most useful tools in your artist toolkit.

From creating content and promoting your work to organising your practice, communicating with collectors and finding new opportunities, there are now countless digital tools that can save you time, improve your visibility and make running your art business easier.

But what do you actually need to know — and which tools are worth using?

In this practical, accessible workshop, we’ll demystify the essential technology every artist should know about.

We’ll look at:

  • AI for artists – what it is, what it can (and can’t) do, and practical ways you can use it

  • ChatGPT and other AI tools – from writing artist statements and social media posts to brainstorming ideas and researching opportunities

  • Social media – making technology work harder for you without spending your whole day online

  • Websites & online portfolios – what you really need and how to make sure your work is easy to find

  • Email & digital marketing – building relationships with galleries, collectors and your audience

  • Useful apps & tools – practical recommendations to save you time and make life easier

  • Digital organisation – simple systems for managing images, information, contacts and your creative business

Most importantly, we’ll focus on the WHY, WHAT and HOW.

You don’t need to be technically confident. You don’t need to understand complicated terminology. And you certainly don’t need to use every new platform or app that comes along.

This workshop is about understanding what’s available, deciding what is relevant to you, and using technology with confidence rather than being overwhelmed by it.

You’ll leave with:

✔ A clearer understanding of the technology available to artists
✔ Practical ideas you can put into action immediately
✔ A better understanding of AI and how it can support your practice
✔ Recommendations for useful tools and platforms
✔ Greater confidence navigating the digital side of your art business
✔ A clearer idea of what you do — and don’t — need to use

Suitable for artists at all stages and all levels of technical confidence.

Come with your questions — we’ll keep it practical, jargon-free and focused on helping you spend less time wrestling with technology and more time making art.
