Join us for a fascinating interview with paper artist Carole Bury FRSA and Pure Founder Lesley Samms. The conversation will focus on current Pleated Drawings and give an insight into the ideas and processes behind the work.

Over the last few years the role of drawing and textile processes have combined and become relevant to one another. An artist residency at Brisons Veor in Cornwall and relevant research in textiles at the V&A museum have been instrumental in developing the relationship between drawing and pleating, surface and construction, materials and processes.

The talk coincides with Carole’s Pleated Drawings being part of the new Group Show “Connected” in the Vaults at RSA House.

Carole Bury FRSA graduated in 1981 from Manchester Polytechnic studying drawing and fine art Embroidery. She moved to London working with the British Crafts Centre, the 62 Group and Fibre Arts. Whilst working and living in Papua New Guinea she continued to exhibit with the 62 Group and working with the Commonwealth Institute.

Carole has continued to refine her practice with Paper as her medium of choice and currently is a member of IAPMA, The Pure Arts Group and ArtCan Organisation. Work has recently been included in the RWA Bristol, Gallery 57 in Arundel, Cloud of Witnesses in St John’s Waterloo and the Spring Gallery, Cheltenham.

Space on Steps is limited but the event is free to attend and open to all.
